DONT FORGET 12/07/09 and 19/07/09

Just a small reminder for everyone that this weekend sees the DAD(Disability Awareness Day) in Warrington this Sunday 10.00am till about 4.00pm at Walton Hall Gardens in Warrington. This year sees the launch of "Friends of Neurosupport" so we will all be wearing tee shirts and try and sign people up for something that has been in our minds for a long time to do and at last that launch day is here and the tee shirts will come in handy for another event at the next weekend 19/07/09 a stroll through the old Mersey tunnel which is celebrating 75 years and at the last count we have around 20 who will be taking part raising awareness and money for Neurosupport and a project near to my heart Gordon Milward( and Brenda of course) and his yet unpublished book of poems. We keep trying to raise the money to get the poems published and with the help of all 3 partners involved Neurosupport, The Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery and The Parkinson's Disease Society we will get there but it seems to take a long time to get these things organised and as I say to all "My last job was selling beer" what do I know about publishing.
This is also a way of saying thank you to Gordon no one before has written something about me and in poetry form so here it is. Thanks again Gordon when I replied to him sending it to me My 7 year old great nephew was of more interested in Star Wars and killing the baddies on the computer of course so I didn't get to say thank you how I would have liked to. Thanks again

Alan Clark Friend
Putting life into perspective looking after your mate
Trying to get my poetry published before it’s too late
Alan goes about his day keeping himself very busy
With all he has to do really makes me dizzy
Volunteering is his forte he’s got the gift of the gab
Finding money for poetry books so they’ll look really fab
He talks a lot of sense; he’s like some sort of mentor
So off we went to see a lady at the Walton Centre
Where doing a sponsored walk under and over the Mersey
We might get some tea shirts or a sponsor’s jersey
People are very kind I’m sure we’ll reach our goal
I hope this idea works and the presses begin to roll
